About Atlantean

Atlantean (Dig Adlantisag) was created by linguist Marc Okrand — famous for creating Klingon — for Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001). Designed as a 'mother language' from which all human languages descended in the film's lore, Atlantean features a unique writing system (a boustrophedon script that alternates direction), a vocabulary inspired by Indo-European and Sumerian roots, and a grammar designed to feel ancient yet learnable. It is one of the most complete constructed languages created for an animated film.
