Vietnamese
Vietnamese, the official language of Vietnam, is a tonal Austroasiatic language. It has borrowed heavily from Chinese through centuries of Vietnamese history but has also incorporated elements from French during the colonial period. The language uses the Latin alphabet, making it unique among the major languages of East Asia. Vietnamese is known for its complex phonology and six-tone system.
